When I try to RDP to windows 7 (32 or 64 bit) machines or windows 2008 R2 server, the cursor is seen completely black. The cursor on the remote is set to type 'None'. The cursor is displayed correctly when I change the type to windows Aero cursor.
Black Aero Cursor Windows 7
The pointer changes shape depending on where it is on the screen. Most often it appears as a small white arrow with a black outline; over a white background this is simply a black outline. In some cases it is even less easy to see. For example, over any area where you can type it turns into a 'I' cursor (called an ' I-beam ' ). This section shows you how to increase the size of your mouse pointer so that it will be easier to see under all conditions.
I can reproduce this bug on Jaunty while connecting to Windows 7. The default "Aero" cursor on Windows 7 shows the proper white color but has a very bad lag to it. The solution to this problem is to change the cursor theme to "none", which fixes the lag but the cursor color turns black even though it's supposed to be white.
I'd like to add that if I change the Windows 7 Cursors to Inverted, it becomes outlined in black, with an invisible body. It also looks garbled with some other cursors, with "garbage pixels" around the cursor. Worse still, the text input cursor is mangled no matter which cursor theme is chosen, to the point of barely being able to see/use it.
I have this problem using rdesktop on Jaunty to connect to an XP workstation. Cursor colors are inverted. The default white Windows cursor shows up as black and if I switch the cursor scheme in Windows to black, the cursor appears as white in rdesktop. This probably started for me after switching from Hardy to Jaunty. The workaround mentioned for Windows 7 had no effect (unsurprisingly).
Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2 both have this issue with cursor masking. I don't think it's inverted. The screenshot shows a black cursor with no white outline. If it were inverted, the outline would be present.

Step 3: Under Change pointer size, you can adjust the bar to a size that works best for you. Under Change pointer color, you can select from several basic color options to make the cursor more visible: White, black, inverted, or custom. With custom, you can choose from either a set of seven suggested colors or pick a custom color of your own.
I have tried every work around on every thread in the Adobe forums since 2016 and still have the black box instead of a cursor. I cannot take a screen shot as when I do it doesn't show the cursor. After almost 2 years of this I certainly hope Adobe has come up with a solution. Of note, I work remotely.
same issue! black box cursor shadowing my pointer feels like my cursor is floating around page and not precise and very very frustrating. i have adobe acrobat pro DC continue release version 2018.011.20038. i too am working remotely on my own Dell windows 10 laptop via work's Internet Explorer Citrix Portal. I tried all suggested fixes and help, repair ... nothing works.
If I do get the mouse into the corner, I have a new problem trying to make use of them. Consider the thumbnails. Whether "Start screen" or "last application," the thumbnail gets a dark border, so it's slightly inset from the edge of the screen. The temptation is to move the mouse cursor back towards the center of the screen so that you can click not on the black border but on the thumbnail itself. Unfortunately, doing that makes the thumbnail disappear. There's a little bit of leeway, but not enough. To activate the thumbnails, you actually have to just click in their corners, even though you're just clicking on the black background, not the thumbnail that you want. 2ff7e9595c
